Sneaking into an 11:30 am screening at The Labia Theatre to have the cinema to myself is usually my jam, but rocking out to the King of Pop’s hits with a crowd of pensioners and Gen Z fans was an incredible experience. Jaafar Jackson completely captures his uncle’s spirit and neurospicy mannerisms. While the film downplays Joseph’s terrifying abuse, the stunning costumes and legendary dance recreations will leave you happy, hopeful, and ready to moonwalk straight to the nearest cinema.
